Anyone else take information technology? How'd they deal with the itching- it's unbearable.
My mom has gotten information technology a few times. All around her stomach and back. A few of her sores got infected with MRSA and it was a hellish nightmare of pain and pus. Hope you recover soon.

Everyone thinks you can't get it if you had chicken pox merely I believe information technology's the opposite. Lady at work had it sounded brutal
Uh, information technology's the other way effectually. You can only become it if yous have had chickenpox. Shingles is what happens when the chickenpox (which lives in your spine for the rest of your life) reactivates. If you've never had chickenpox, you lot can't get the shingles.

My married woman merely recovered from it, and I had it a few years ago. Really hurts. It is the chicken pox virus that flares upward; there's a vaccine now, though.
For chicken pox, too, which is why information technology's soooooo important to get kids vaccinated for this stuff.

My sympathies, OP. I had the shingles one time around age 34. It sucks difficult. Proceed taking those painkillers (according to the doc'south instructions, of grade) and movement equally little every bit possible. If yous caught it early, it won't be that bad.Uh, it's the other way around. You tin can only get it if you have had chickenpox. Shingles is what happens when the chickenpox (which lives in your spine for the residue of your life) reactivates. If you've never had chickenpox, you lot can't go the shingles.
I had Shingles when I around 10, so had chicken pox when I was 17. Hadn't had any signs of chicken pox before that though... unless information technology only laid fallow without affecting me.
Hoping for a speedy recovery OP.

I had it a few years ago on the left side of my torso and it was the worst, especially because I slept on that side. Could be worse though, a friend of mine got it on his face which can cause permanent injury to your optics.
It'due south considering how information technology works is a little confusing. You can't grab Shingles. However, a person with Shingles can infect people who haven't had chickenpox with chickenpox (because it's the same virus.)Anybody thinks you tin't get it if you had chicken pox but I believe it's the contrary. Lady at work had it sounded brutal
One time you've had chickenpox it never leaves your body, Shingles is the virus flaring up again on its ain, usually when you accept a weakened immune system (just sometimes if you're like me, just bad luck.)

I had Shingles when I around 10, then had chicken pox when I was 17. Hadn't had any signs of craven pox before that though... unless it just laid dormant without affecting me.
There are many possible explanations for what you had, including the possibility that you didn't take shingles at all, but I can guarantee you that nobody has shingles without first getting infected with the varicella zoster virus. The initial infection from that virus causes chicken pox. Shingles happens when the virus reactivates.

Im kinda lucky in that mine wasn't/isnt particularly painful and its already crusting up and fading. Im gonna try to get the Shingrix vaccine presently or whatever to try to avoid a repeat

The pain will hitting you later on its gone. Information technology damages the nerves. Luckily in immature people the impairment is repaired I think.Im kinda lucky in that mine wasn't/isnt particularly painful and its already crusting upward and fading. Im gonna endeavor to get the Shingrix vaccine soon or whatsoever to effort to avert a repeat
You don't demand the vaccine anymore.

Hope you lot have a speedy recovery OP and others.

Tbf, it's not that bad if you don't get it on somewhere actually unfortunate similar your face. It's painful but it's not like information technology's debilitating or anything. I got through a fair few games while I was under doc's orders to not leave my flat incase I give people chicken pox :PBang-up, now I'm agape of randomly getting shingles.Hope you have a speedy recovery OP and others.

The pain will hit you after its gone. It damages the fretfulness.
Not necessarily. My agreement is that this only happens in a minority of cases, though the risk is higher the older you are when you have the infection. I never had whatsoever nervus damage.
- #24
Did you lot experience any numbness in the area after it was gone? Not necessarily. My understanding is that this only happens in a minority of cases, though the risk is higher the older you lot are when yous have the infection. I never had any nervus damage.
The virus travels through the fretfulness from the brain and damages the nerve endings as the boils starts showing on the pare.

What was scary is when I got an infection from poison ivy it clustered and blistered the aforementioned mode.

The pain will hit yous later on its gone. It damages the fretfulness. Luckily in young people the damage is repaired I think. You lot don't need the vaccine anymore.
I don't think this is truthful. Postherpetic Neuralgia (the longlasting pain after shingles) doesn't happen in every case. For most people, the pain lasts as long as the blisters/rash itself.
- #28
Did you experience any numbness in the area afterward it was gone?
None any, every bit far every bit I can recall. Most people don't take nerve damage from the disease, even temporarily. The chance of skin scarring is much higher.
I know it'due south rare to get them a second fourth dimension but it's impossible to not think any small rash or blister cluster isn't shingles.
I actually defenseless the infection before it affected the skin in any visible way when I had the shingles. It felt similar I had a sunburn that traveled all the way from my chest to the tip of my thumb. I could actually trace the nervus with my finger. Because of this, I could get my doctor involved at an early enough stage to shorten the duration of the infection and the intensity of the pain. So pain that feels like a sunburn is what I'grand looking for.

I wasn't and so lucky.Tbf, information technology'southward not that bad if you don't go information technology on somewhere really unfortunate like your face.

I actually caught the infection before information technology affected the peel in whatsoever visible way when I had the shingles. Because of this, I could become my medico involved at an early enough stage to shorten the duration of the infection and the intensity of the pain. And then pain that feels like a sunburn is what I'm looking for.
For me I never had any itching or called-for awareness. The just thing felt was when I actually touched them, and even and so the irritation would only linger for a brief time.

Ooph. I worked in a hospital for two years and nothing would make nurses run out of a room faster than MRSA. Not a fun affair to contract.

The rash is very distinctive (it follows the path of a major nerve equally the zoster virus reactivates), then it wasn't misdiagnosed.
I approximate it depends on how much nervus damage information technology does as it flares up.
